{"id":175,"date":"2020-01-14T10:50:47","date_gmt":"2020-01-14T10:50:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.northampton-vets.co.uk\/news\/?p=175"},"modified":"2020-09-16T13:43:31","modified_gmt":"2020-09-16T12:43:31","slug":"mane-no-longer-out-in-the-cold-thanks-to-warm-hearted-stranger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.northampton-vets.co.uk\/news\/mane-no-longer-out-in-the-cold-thanks-to-warm-hearted-stranger\/","title":{"rendered":"Man\u00e9 no longer out in the cold thanks to warm-hearted stranger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A stray, underweight cat in extreme pain has undergone an astonishing transformation and welcomed in the new year with a new life, thanks to our vets and a generous stranger who refused to give up on her.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan Chambers was out running near Castle Ashby when he came across a cat in a very sorry state, so he took her to see us.<\/p>\n<p>We diagnosed Man\u00e9, as she has now been named by her new owner, a die-hard Liverpool FC fan, with bilateral lower lid entropion, which is where the eyelids roll inwards, meaning with every blink her eyelashes were scraping the surface of the cornea.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_189\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-189\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-189\" src=\"https:\/\/www.northampton-vets.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/mane-cat-before1-277x300.jpg\" alt=\"rescue-cat\" width=\"300\" height=\"325\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.northampton-vets.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/mane-cat-before1-277x300.jpg 277w, https:\/\/www.northampton-vets.co.uk\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/mane-cat-before1.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-189\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Man\u00e9 was in a lot of pain from entropion, was underweight and miserable when Nathan found her.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As well as being in excruciating pain with her eyes, she was also underweight and bedraggled.<\/p>\n<p>We set about trying to find her owners but were met with dead ends \u2013 but kind-hearted Nathan, who was in regular contact with us throughout Man\u00e9\u2019s stay, offered to pay for her operation.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan said: \u201cI was on a long distance run and I was close to collapsing. She was so skinny, and I could already see there was something very wrong with her eyes. But she was straining her neck to look up and catch some rays of sunshine on her fur, and from that moment I felt I was meant to find her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI stayed in touch with Spinney Vets throughout Man\u00e9\u2019s stay there and didn\u2019t hesitate in offering to pay for her surgery. It was just the best news.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere has been a huge transformation in her. She has put on weight, her coat is brilliant, and her eyes are now healed. We\u2019re thrilled with how much she\u2019s flourished. She looks like a different cat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll my family use Spinney Vets for their animals as they are a skilled and hugely caring bunch of people, and they have shown this once more with how they took care of Man\u00e9.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Our vet Rachel Chan said: \u201cWe gave her pain relief and medicated her eyes, which soon started to look better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter seven days no owner had been traced, but then something amazing happened. Nathan, who had been in constant contact with us since bringing Man\u00e9 in and already expressed how much he wanted to become her new owner, said he wanted to pay for the treatment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter she had recovered, he was able to take her with him to start her new life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMan\u00e9 is a beautiful cat and we are delighted she has a new home to go to.
